Give them the example by small things like helping a friend who is sad, helping elderly neighbor, or even helping their own siblings at home.

Instead of telling your children to stay at home, you can tell them how the tragedy has brought kind people to help the victims. Explain to them what kind of help hose people give to the victims. You can also tell them how they can help as well with what they can and have.

Involve your children in charitable activities even without waiting for a tragedy to happen. There are many ways you can show your children how to help others and share with them. For example, handing out coffee to the mailman during cold weather. Or, asking them to donate their gently used books to orphanage or local organization. Or, show them how to help elderly around your neighborhood and get your children involved in the act.

One of the most common charitable acts is donating money. When you donate money, make sure that your children know what you are doing and why you do it. Tell them the importance of donation and how it can help many people in need regardless of how small or big it is. You can also encourage the, to save some money specifically to donate later.
